Work on a new casino being constructed in Michigan has begun this week with the complex being planned for completion by next summer. The casino is owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Pottawatomie Indians and the project will cost around $300 million.
The soon to be open, Firekeepers casino will contain a 70 seat gourmet restaurant, as well as a 300 seat buffet restaurant. Also included in the complex will be a 24hour coffer bar, sports bar and performing areas for entertainment and cabaret shows.
The project is being built by the Clack Construction company who are locally based in Michigan. The gaming areas will contain up to 2,500 slot machines, 90 table games, 20 poker tables, high limit and VIP gaming area, players club and a bingo function room.
The casino promises to be one of the largest and most advanced casinos in the area and will be visited by thousands gaming enthusiast. Covering a huge 236,000 square feet the casino will be a stunning piece of architectural achievement.
“The Tribe is very pleased with the progress that we are making in the construction of FireKeepers Casino,” said Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Tribal Chairperson, Laura Spurr. “We have waited a long time to bring economic development and jobs to not only tribal members but also to the greater Calhoun County region.”
“FireKeepers Casino will be an outstanding venue for gaming patrons located halfway between Detroit and Chicago,” said the casino’s general manager, R. Bruce McKee.
The casino has already began its recruitment process and is accepting applications for management positions within the casino.
