After the ASA banned thier Online Casino TV advert Ladbrokes opted to then express their disapproval by using a print ad to poke-fun at Banning of their advert.
No Ladbrokes have announced they intend to appeal against the ban. While the ASA only recieved one complaint, it seemed to be enough to warrant the banning of the advert. The complaint stated that the advert associated the events protrayed as making someone tough and some what glamourised the thrill of gambling.
The Managing Director for Ladbrokes Remote Betting and Gaming John O’really, said in a statement ‘Ladbrokes fully supports the code of practice relating to gambling advertising but this ruling is an example of political correctness going too far,”
He also stated, “We believe the ads are compliant as they are humorous and show people in fantastical situations to which no one would aspire. Consumers know that you cannot jump from a plane using a 30 gram pack of crisps as a parachute.”
