With the financial situation tightening the purse strings of consumers across the globe, more and more casinos have recorded a significant decrease in revenues. However, this is not the case for all casinos. In fact, some casinos in Mississippi have done better in 2009 than they did in 2008.
After recording losses in December, the Mississippi State Tax Commission found that revenues totalled $221 million in January 2009 up from £204.3million in December, although revenue across the state was still down in comparison to the same period in 2008.
According to the records posted on Tuesday by the Tax Commission, the Gulf Coast casinos grossed more than $99million in January up $3.6million from December, however it was down $7million on January 2008’s revenue.
Casinos along the Mississippi River however recorded better performance as revenues there were up $13 million on December to $121.9miilion and up $4million on January 2008.
