While it is said that many people turn to gaming during financial uncertainty, it is not always the case as Australian casino and poker companies are finding.
A new survey report by Roy Morgan Research showed that there has been a decline in the amount of Australians gambling over the last 7 years.
Now this could be looked at both ways, either players are not playing as much at casino, and playing more online due to the cost of going out to a casino, or more people are simply being prudent with their spending.
Casino and Poker machine providers are finding that business is slowing and there is less demand for their goods.
The report supports the industries findings. Stating that since 2002the number of Australian’s gambling has decreased from 72% to 65%.
However it has to be said despite the number of people playing going down, Australian casinos have been doing relatively well for the last few years with many of their ‘high rollers’ coming from Asia.
